About

Welcome to Klaus Family Lights!

Our light show is created and run by Kyle, who first started experimenting with holiday displays back in 2020. What began as a small Halloween setup—mainly a few projected pumpkins and a creative outlet during the extra downtime of the COVID era—quickly grew into a full seasonal tradition. While the show has expanded a lot since then, it remains just that: a hobby, not a profession, built out of curiosity, joy, and a love of making people smile.

How the Show Works

The entire display is sequenced using a program called xLights, which allows every effect, color, and animation to synchronize perfectly to music. Behind the scenes, a Raspberry Pi running FPP (Falcon Player) coordinates the show automatically each night.

All of the lights are powered and controlled through specialized hardware, including Falcon Controllers mounted in the garage. Each controller handles thousands of LEDs with precise timing, helping the show run smoothly from start to finish.

The Lights Themselves

The Christmas show features 6,328 individually addressable LEDs—each one capable of its own color and brightness at any moment. This level of control is what makes the smooth motion, patterns, and musical synchronization possible.

A Community Tradition

Although this started as a personal project, it has grown into something we love sharing with our neighbors and the broader Yuba City community. Whether it’s Halloween pumpkins or a full winter light spectacular, we aim to create something fun, festive, and welcoming for everyone who stops by.

Thanks for visiting, and we hope you enjoy the show as much as we enjoy creating it!
